Rajamahendravaram: Godavari Urban Development Authority chairman (GUDA) Ganni Krishna has said that people would never forget the services rendered by former Lok Sabha Speaker GMC Balayogi rendered to the district.
Unveiling the statue of Balayogi at the Kamabala Park here on Sunday evening, he said during GMC Balayogi's tenure as Speaker, many developmental works were executed in the district as well as in the city.
In the year 1996, on a call given by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, Kambala tank was cleaned up and garbage was cleared under Sramadanam.
The tank was developed as an important area in the city and the open space of the tank was developed into park.
GUDA has sanctioned an amount of Rs 48 lakh for the development of the park again to make it an important entertainment centre to the people.
The statue of the late GMC Balayogi is another attraction in the park, he added. TDP leaders V Rambabu, K Naveen Kumar, VS Rao and others were present.
