Visakhapatnam: MP K Haribabu along with Divisional Railway Manager Mukul Saran Mathur on Wednesday inaugurated AC relaxing lounge on Platform No 8 at Visakhapatnam railway station. The MP also inaugurated modernised coaches under Utkrist programme of 18501/02 Visakhapatnam-Gandhidham-Visakhapatnam express and 08501/02 Visakhapatnam-Secunderabad-Visakhapatnam Special.
Speaking on the occasion, the DRM explained about the development activities of the division and upgradation of Visakhapatnam Railway station. He said the passengers would experience world-class facilities at the Visakhapatnam Railway station.
Lot of efforts have been taken by the division to improve the facilities and amenities including modernised food courts, lifts, escalators, 100 per cent digital payment gateways, AC executive lounge, Pay and Use refreshing and many more facilities at Visakhapatnam Railway station, he added.
The station redevelopment programme with an estimated cost of Rs 10 crore would be completed by March-end, the DRM added. The AC lounge will be run by private operator and operation and maintenance would be on revenue sharing basis. Entry fee for the bonafide passengers is Rs 50 per 2 hours. Water bottle and tea/coffee complement. Lounge capacity is 50 seats.
