Visakhapatnam: Ugadi Puraskarulu would be held in Visakhapatnam this year in April-May to felicitate distributors, exhibiters, studio owners along with producers and talented technicians and artists, said president of Andhra Pradesh Film Chamber of Commerce (APFCC) A Madhu Mohan Krishna.
Speaking at a press meet here on Sunday, Madhu Mohan Krishna said that Visakhapatnam, which has a natural scenic beauty, was a suitable place to bring Telugu film industry to Andhra Pradesh from Hyderabad. In the initial days, the Telugu film Industry was in Madras, which was shifted gradually to Hyderabad with the support of stalwarts like NT Rama Rao and Akkineni Nageswara Rao.
In the same way, there was a need to shift the industry to Andhra Pradesh, he said. “Hollywood has Los Angeles and Visakhapatnam has the capacity to become Los Angeles of Indian cinema but it was underrated. Various film studios and at least one chamber must be setup in Visakhapatnam to bring the development,” said Vijay Varma, vice-president, APFCC.
He said that Visakhapatnam has all the natural locations of sea, rivers and hills in and around the city, all the way to Araku, which was the reason to build studios in the city.
