Vizianagaram: Prohibition and excise department is taking all steps to control flow of unlimited liquor in the ensuing elections.

In-charge Deputy Commissioner of Prohibition and Excise SVVN Babji Rao informed that 24/7 working district control room was established to receive complaints regarding excise crimes.

Talking to The Hans India on Saturday, he instructed all excise licencees to install CC cameras on their premises to monitor the shops and to curb violations.

The department also formed intelligence teams to gather inputs regarding excise crimes especially election related ones like unauthorised storage of liquor and distribution of liquor.

“We have tightened the border check posts at P Kinavalasa (near Salur) and Kuneru ( Komarada mandal) with Odisha. We are planning to install IP based CC cameras to monitor vehicular traffic and arrest illegal transport of liquor from the border state.

Within a week CC cameras will be installed in 5 identified all vulnerable points and conducting route watches in high frequency with irregular time schedule.”

He said the department was organising excise officers meeting with Andhra-Odisha states in Visakhapatnam on February 25 for better coordination in the elections.
