Media monitoring committee meets on election watch

Kakinada: East Godavari Collector Kartikeya Mishra said that the media monitoring committee at district-level has been formed to check election spending, morality, and content of news items, expenditure and allied issues.

At the first meet of the committee organised at district Collectorate on Monday evening, Kartikeya Mishra said that the expenditure of the candidates in the forthcoming MLC polls in print, electronic media and other outdoor publicity will be thoroughly checked.

In addition to this, close monitoring of facebook, whatsApp, twitter, telegram, social media, bulk SMS and allied publicity will also be checked thoroughly by the monitoring committee, the Collector said.

The committee will also monitor the speeches of contesting candidates on moral grounds and also screen the speeches to check whether it contains any abusive language.

The same will be referred to Election Commission basing on the observation, the Collector added.
