Triumph might be planning to introduce four new Street Triple variants, powered by an 800cc engine. Reports suggest that the British manufacturer is developing this new middleweight range to compete against new MV Agusta streetfighters as well as the Kawasaki Z800.

The new 800cc three-cylinder engine might borrow its architecture from the one used in the Tiger 800 range, though they will be heavily tuned to make them high-revving. This might affect the low-end torque, though we can expect a significant bump in top-end power. With the base version expected to make 110bhp, the top-end ‘R’ variant might produce up to 125bhp.

The four model line-up with the different suffixes will cater to a wide variety of customers, just like the new Tiger 800 variants. The top-end touring focussed model will also get an aerodynamic semi-fairing, which resembles the old Daytona motorcycles of early 2000s. The motorcycles are expected to be unveiled by the end of next year, as 2017 models.
