India along with three neighbouring countries have joined hands for ‘The Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, and Nepal (BBIN) Friendship Motor Rally 2015. The first of its kind BBIN Friendship Motor Rally will be flagged off today, which is 14th of November from Bhubaneshwar.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor Pvt Ltd. will be an active participant and provide support for the BBIN Friendship Motor Rally .The BBIN Rally is organized as the first step towards facilitating sub-regional connectivity, better opportunities and improved interactions between the four participating countries.

The flag-off ceremony at Bhubaneshwar was attended by eminent personalities such as the north Secretary Mr. Vijay Chhibber, Mr. Shekar Viswanathan, Vice Chairman and Whole - time Director, Toyota Kirloskar Motor and Ambassadors/High Commissioners of the 4 participating countries.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor will be an important participant in the event following the company’s pursuance of a comprehensive approach towards achieving road safety. TKM have been safety leaders in the industry and have always displayed enthusiasm in promoting safe driving habits in the past. Toyota Kirloskar Motor will provide its Fortuners and Innovas for the rally which are well known for its Quality, Durability and Reliability.

Commenting on the event, Shekar Viswanathan, vice chairman and director, Toyota Kirloskar Motor said, “We at Toyota are extremely delighted to be part of this historic event. We are privileged to support the Government and various state authorities in its endeavours of attaining a holistic development of the society.

Seamless connectivity in the neighbouring countries will open up newer and greater opportunities for all. With enhanced connectivity also comes the primary concern of road safety. While we transcend boundaries, it is important to adopt a comprehensive approach towards creating awareness on safe driving habits.”

The BBIN Friendship Motor Rally which will culminate at Kolkata on 2nd December 2015, to campaign the cause of educating the people about importance of road safety and safe driving and also through a seminar which will be conducted by TKM in Guwahati on 25th November 2015.

Also commenting on the event Vijay Chhibber – secretary, MoRTH, said “BBIN friendship rally will further strengthen friendship, mutual-trust and cooperation between participating countries. Growing access will also help in establishing a stronger people to people bond. We hope to build more such cultural engagements in the future. We are happy to receive the participation from TKM and their support in promoting importance of Road Safety”.

The BBIN Friendship Motor Rally would cover 4,500 kms in 19 days in 4 countries by about 22 vehicles and 80 participants from India, Bangladesh, Bhutan and Nepal to achieve a new milestone in regional integration among four countries. This effort is a result of the strong determination expressed by the Heads of State of Government of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation to deepen regional integration by boosting road connectivity.
