Maruti Suzuki is going to showcase the Ignis compact crossover in India at the upcoming 2016 Auto Expo. The vehicle seems quite interesting and it has now been launched in Japan.

The Suzuki Ignis has been priced from Rs. 8.00-10.29 lakhs in Japan and it is likely to be launched in India during the festive season of 2016 in October-November. The Ignis is available in three trims – MG, MX and MZ and each trim is available with a standard 2WD or an optional AWD drivetrain.

The MZ 2WD variant clocks the weighing scale at 880 kgs while the AWD trim is heavier by 40 kgs. The vehicle measures 3700 mm, 1660 mm and 1595 mm in length, width and height respectively and it has a wheelbase of 2435 mm.

The Ignis also has a ground clearance of 180 mm. The styling has a youthful nature and the distinct combination of the headlights and the unique grille strike a beautiful balance, making the car look appealing.

The side profile looks neat but the C-pillar has a nice design that looks eye-catchy. The Suzuki Ignis gets glossy black alloy wheels and bulky wheel arches.

The vehicle gets features like front, side and curtain airbags, ABS with EBD, lane departure warning, ESP, Hill Hold, Hill Descent Control, automatic headlights and LED fog lamps.

Other features like automatic climate control, cruise control, keyless entry, start-stop button, audio system with Bluetooth, heated front seats and regenerative braking are also present.

The Suzuki Ignis is powered by a 1242cc, 4-cylinder, K12C DualJet petrol engine with VVT producing 91 PS of power and 118 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a CVT gearbox and a DC synchronous motor is also matched to the motor.

The 2WD variant returns 28 km/l of fuel efficiency while the AWD variant churns out 25.4 km/l. When launched in India, the Ignis will be made available at a price between Rs. 6-9 lakhs and it will be retailed through the company’s NEXA dealer network, rivalling other hatchbacks in the market, including the premium hatchback based crossovers.
