The Ninja R2 is expected to be the second of three supercharged models from Kawasaki.A speculative rendering of what is billed by the media as the Kawasaki R2 has emerged online. Based on the hints given by the manufacturer and inputs from sources, the R2 is a supercharged sportsbike which will rewrite the rules of litre class segment.

Said to displace a little over 800 cc, the the R2’s engine will have the compactness of its displacement class while boasting of performance levels of a segment above. Styling could be heavily derived from the Ninja H2 which would continue to remain as the flagship production ready Kwacker.

The Ninja R2 is expected to be the second of three surpercharged motorcycles in the pipeline, suggesting that an even smaller derivative is in the skunkworks. At the time of unveiling the Ninja H2, the company officials stated that the homegrown forced induction technology is scalable.

Not much is known about the Ninja R2 as of now but the general expectation is an agile superbike with around 190 PS on tap. A six-speed gearbox is likely to transmit power via a chain drive. The trellis frame, suspension system (USD front forks and rear monoshock) and braking system (twin discs upfront and a single disc at the rear) are expected to be derived from the bigger H2.

We will know more about the Kawasaki Ninja R2 in the coming months. We could see the bike at EICMA 2016.
