Coimbatore-based Jayem Automotives has a long-standing relationship with Tata Motors when it comes to product development and validation process. This could explain the presence of the vehicle in the city.

The Hexa which is essentially an extensively reskinned Aria will shoulder the responsibility of establishing Tata Motors in the lucrative 7-seat SUV category which is currently being dominated by the Mahindra XUV500. It’s predecessor Aria couldn’t manage to interest even a single buyer in the whole country in April 2016, so the Hexa has its work cut out.

The ladder SUV features bolder and squared off edges compared to the Aria which was marketed as an MPV. With its flared wheel arches, bold front and rear fascias, lower body cladding and roof racks, the Hexa manages to emerge as imposing SUV. The interior too has been transformed with a new centre console, steering wheel and equipment list.

The Tata Hexa is powered by a 2.2-litre VARICOR 400 diesel engine which produces 156 PS and 400 Nm of torque when mated to a 6-speed manual transmission.
