Maruti unveils future product plan to suppliers and reveals road map to target 2 million vehicle sales by 2020.Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) which sold over 1.2 million cars in India last year, has aims to sell 2 million units by 2020. Bringing in latest technologies, new generation cars which are fuel efficient, enhancing sales network by two fold are what will help the company achieve this aim.

Company suppliers have been asked to enhance production of components as the car maker targets substantial increase in volumes over the next five years.

A suppliers conference held in Thailand showcased the company’s future plans which will take total sales upto 2 million units by 2020. These optimistic targets which are a part of the Maruti Suzuki Vision 2.0 are despite uncertainties over diesel vehicles, stricter green regulations and the Society of Indian Automobile Manufactures cutting industry’s growth forecasts.

Increased investments, 10-15 new car launches and expansion of networks are being planned by mid FY17. Maruti’s parent, Suzuki is on track to start production at their new Sanand manufacturing facility by Jan 2017. The first vehicle to roll out from this new world class plant will be Baleno, while Maruti Suzuki also plans to add the new generation Swift to product lineup.

Suzuki Motors has invested around INR 2,500 crores at a facility in Becharaji, Gujarat. Suzuki will sell the cars produced here to Maruti Suzuki, for domestic market as well as exports. Suzuki plans second round of investments to the tune of another INR 2,500 crores by 2018-19.

Collectively, these will help Maruti Suzuki to achieve their 2020 sales target.
