The Kodiaq which was previewed by the Vision S concept follows the brand’s latest design philosophy. Taut sheet metal surfaces, accentuated character lines and edgy front fascia elements are the highlights.

Based on the VW MQB platform that also caters to the Superb, the Kodiaq will be available in both 5- and 7-seat variants in Europe. The car will carry forward the equipment package from the Superb.

Skoda has announced that the Kodiaq’s powertrain lineup will consist of three TSI petrol and two TDI diesel engines. The SUV can be specified with 6-speed manual transmission are 7-speed DSG. Both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive configurations will be on offer.

The Skoda Kodiaq is expected to go on sale in Europe in early 2017. The 7-seat premium SUV’s India launch is expected sometime in the later part of 2017.

Likely to be assembled at Skoda India’s CKD plant in Aurangabad, the Kodiaq will lock horns with the likes of Hyundai Santa Fe, Ford Endeavour and Toyota Fortuner.
