The model that will meet the assembly lines is not very different from the concept which was showcased at Detroit. Save for mildly revised headlamps and front bumper, the design has been carried forward without any noticeable deviation.

The interior design too has been retained but the color theme and trims lose the quintessential concept-specific glamor. The production version could be unveiled at any of the major international auto shows towards the end of this year or early next year.

Based on the MQB platform, the VW Teramont will share a lot of components with the Skoda Kodiaq which is set to debut at Berlin on September 1. If the dimensions of the concept are anything to go by, the full sized 7-seater will measure almost 5 metre in length (4,986 mm to be precise).

It’s clearly a size bigger than the Touareg and will be pitted against the likes of Honda Pilot in the USA. The concept was equipped with a Hybrid powertrain with electric AWD system but we expect the production model to employ 2.0-litre TSI petrol and TDI diesel engines. Higher variants will use V6 motors.
