Despite a slew of SUV launches in 2016 ranging from heavyweights Endeavour/Fortuner to Maruti’s blockbuster compact SUV, Vitara Brezza, Indians’ love affair with hatchbacks remained strong. The popularity can be explained by the fact that over 50 per cent of the cars sold in India last year were hatchbacks. The KUV100 also debuted Mahindra’s brand-new, three-cylinder 1.2-litre petrol and diesel motors. This vehicle, which Mahindra calls ‘the young SUV’, secures the second spot with more than 58.7 lakh hits on its model page in 2016.

This hatchback changed the fortunes of Renault India overnight with features never before seen in the segment such as a touchscreen infotainment system, navigation, digital speedometer, etc, and the phenomenal space (read: 300 litres of boot space) it offered considering its price range.
