KTM, CFMoto announce partnership in China

KTM AG and its long-term partner CFMoto have announced a joint venture to boost the former’s presence in China. The two companies will develop products not only for the Chinese market but for global markets as well.

CFMoto-KTMR2R is the name given to the joint venture and as per the agreement, CFMoto holds a majority stake of 51 percent. The appropriate authority from CFMoto’s side is yet to give a nod for the joint venture. The automaker has been making two-wheelers, All-Terrain Vehicles and engines since 1989 and boasts of partnerships and alliances with over 1500 companies.

Meanwhile, we are all aware that KTM has an alliance with Bajaj, with the latter having a 48 percent stake in the former. KTM has partnered with Bajaj to make sub-400cc bikes for the Indian market. Bajaj is also planning to bring in the Husqvarna brand of bikes (the Duke maker had acquired the Husqvarna brand from BMW in 2013). The single-cylinder Huskies will be made in India at Bajaj’s Chakan facility.
