Hyderabad: Skipper Limited, a Kolkata-based company engaged in the business of polymer pipes, on Friday has forayed into south India by setting up its new manufacturing plant in Hyderabad. The new plant, spread over 2.25 acre near Bollaram in Medak district of Telangana, will have an annual manufacturing capacity to produce 6,000 million tonne of both plumbing and agriculture pipes.

The company has already hired over 100 employees and implemented recruiting and training programmes since the last couple of months. Production from the project’s first phase will begin later this month. “Our confidence for the Telangana State and the city of Hyderabad has been a tremendous driving force behind our manufacturing scale-up.

Our local employees and partners have worked hard to start up this facility on an extremely fast timeline, and we are excited to expand our manufacturing presence in this part of the country,” said Devesh Bansal, Director, Skipper. The company has chosen Hyderabad to target the entire southern region comprising Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala markets.

The hassle-free industrial policy of the Telangana government has helped the company in successfully establishing the manufacturing unit in a very short span, the company said. Skipper Limited’s scrip ended the trade at Rs 161.20 on the BSE on Friday, up 0.75 per cent, over the previous close of Rs 160 per share.
