Hyderabad: Megha Engineering & Infrastructures Limited (MEIL) on Tuesday said it bagged the mega-project of supplying cooking gas to 10 districts of Telangana.

As part of Central Government’s decision to supply cooking gas to every household in rural areas, MEIL secured three bids in Telangana (covering ten districts) from the newly invited bids. Out of the total bids opened by PNGRB, Warangal urban, rural, Jayashankar, Bhupalapalli, Mahbubnagar, Jangaon, Bhadradri, Kothagudem, Khammam, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri districts have been opened and a few more are yet to be opened.

Rajesh Reddy, AVP, MEIL, said “The company, which is supplying gas with the slogan, ‘Megha Gas- Its smart, Its Good’, is gearing up for gas supply in the new districts of Telangana. Partaking the bid offered by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, MEL has secured Warangal Urban, Warangal Rural, Jayashankar Bhupalapalli, Mahbubabad and Jangaon districts as one Unit, Bhadradri, Kothagudem, Khammam, districts as the second Unit, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri districts as the third Unit.”

As part of this project, Megha Gas proposes to lay 800-inch kilometres of pipelines (Gas pipelines are measured in inch kilometres) in Khammam and Kothagudem districts. Similarly, Warangal Urban, Warangal Rural, Jayashankar Bhupalapalli, Mahbubabad and Jangaon districts would necessitate 800-inch kilometres, and Nalgonda, Suryapet, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri districts would require 1500-inch kilometres of pipelines.

In a similar fashion, the 10 districts would necessitate arranging 80 filling stations. This project would ensure supply of gas to one lakh families of Warangal Urban, Warangal Rural, Jayashankar Bhupalapalli, Mahbubabad and Jangaon districts; another 1 lakh families of Kothagudem unit, and 3.5 lakh families of Nalgonda, Suryapet, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri Unit. The project would draw the gas from Trunk Line Network and would be completed in eight years.
