Tirupati: Minister for Mines and Geology Galla Aruna Kumari distributed LPG stoves and cylinders to eligible beneficiaries in Chinnagottikallu and Tirupati (Rural) mandal on Thursday. In Tirupati Rural mandal, she distributed 2,453 LPG connections to beneficiaries and 1,143 connections in Chinnagottikallu. Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that the government was committed to the uplift of women economically and introduced several schemes to stand on their own resources. She appealed to the public to enroll their names with mandal development officer if any eligible family had registered but did not receive the LPG connection. The pension schemes, interest-free bank loans and other welfare schemes brought cheers to many families, especially the senior citizens, who were receiving pensions from government. They are more happy now, she pointed out. With the instructions by the State government, many institutions and nationalized banks are giving more priority to women in day-to-day activities, she pointed. The SC/ST sub-plan is in effective implementation and many are getting benefits and lot of development is taking place in various fields, she said. Chittoor MP Dr N Siva Prasad, MLC Y Srinivasulu Reddy, special officers to Chinnagottikallu and Pakala Venkata Reddy and Yugandhar and few government staff participated were present on the occasion.
