Tirupati: ‘Siva Garjana’ in Srikalahasti of Chittoor district, which was held under the aegis of Samiakyandhra Joint Action Committee, drew a crowd of 50,000 people on Wednesday.
Apart from public of Srikalahasti town, people from rural areas had come to make the meeting a success. Irrespective of political affiliations the constituency leaders from all political parties attended the meeting. All the streets in and around Srikalahastheeswara Swamy temple were flooded with people. Addressing the meeting, former MLA SCV Naidu, leaders Biyyapu Madhusudhana Reddy, Kola Anand, MSO Anjuru Srinivas blamed the Congress for dividing the State and demanded the Union government and Congress to rollback the decision on bifurcation.
School children performed cultural programmes highlighting the importance of unity of Telugu speaking people. The songs and dance performances by tiny tots have become the cynosure of all eyes.
Speaking on the occasion, former MLA SCV Naidu said that the people across the Seemandhra region were staging protests for unified State and demanding the resignations of elected representatives MLAs, MPs and Union Ministers for the cause of Samaikyandhra, but no Union Minister from this region tendered resignations. There is justice in the demand of Seemandhra people and Union government should think about the sentiments of the people while dividing the State, said Y Ramachandra Reddy, convenor of Employees JAC, Tirupati.
Though the government employees were in the indefinite strike for about a month, neither the high command nor the Union government took any steps in rendering justice to the Seemandhra region, he added. Thousands of people from all walks of life are participating in the Samaikyandhra agitations for the past 40 days, he pointed out.
