This movie also put SP Balasubrahmanyam in the league of classical singer for his melodious renditions. The soundtrack was composed by KV Mahadevan and it was only after this movie that more and more classical music began to be included in movies.
Shankarabharam, which has been screened at several international film festivals is also listed among greatest Indian films.
Wonder why all this talk now? Well, the movie is back in news. We hear that a Tamil producer has bought the rights of the movie to release a digital version of the film in Tamil. And the film is expected to hit theatres sometime this month.
Telugu fans need not be disheartened. You too can catch the movie again on the big screen soon as producer Edida Nageshwara Rao will re-release the digital version of the movie in Telugu. So, get set to relive the musical journey.
