Chennai is known for pirated CDs. Any movie that hits the market gets itself copied and sold in the infamous crowded market in Chennai. The latest victim of this crime has been Siddharth's recently released Jigarthanda.
According to reports, the producer of the movie lodged a complaint with the police that the pirated version of the movie was being sold. Acting on the tip off, the police raided a couple of hide-outs in the city and nabbed the culprits. They also seied around 4000 pirated CDs from them.
Following the operation, police security has been stepped up in areas like Burma Bazaar, Ratan Bazaar, and Netaji Bazaar. The police is continuing the search operations in several shops.
Among the seized CDs were pirated versions of Siddharth's Jigarthanda and Dhanush's Vellailla Pathahari.
