Shocking celebrity suicides

Robin Williams, the Hollywood actor who was known to tickle your funny bones in his movies made us all cry for the first time. And this time, it was because he chose to end his life due to depression.

The news shook the world as nobody could really digest the fact that a person who was always seen happy on screen could take an extreme step as suicide. A celebrity's life is often seen with envy. However, little do we know that Robin's was not an isolated case. There were many others who chose to give it all up unable to deal with depression.

Let's take a look at some of the celebrity suicides that was shocking and most unexpected...

Pihilip Seymour Hoffman: The New York Times called Seymour the most ambitious and widely admired actor of his generation. However, his vice was drug addiction which finally cost his life. He died of mixed drug intoxication-heroin, cocaine, benzodiazepines and amphetamine. Heroin and prescription medications were found at the scene of death. Investigating officers revealed that Hoffman was found dead with a syringe in his arm.

Marilyn Monroe: The beautiful, graceful, elegant and yet witty-these are only a few words to describe the American actress and singer. Even the present day actors can't beat her oomph. The sex symbol was found dead under mysterious circumstances at the age of 36. Although overdose of sleeping pills was said to be the cause, there are theories that say she could have been murdered.

Whitney Houston: One of the most talented artistes known for her multi-faceted personality- Whitney was a singer, lyricist, model and actor. Whitney was found dead in a bathtub which was initially called an accident. However, traces of a mix of drugs was found in her body during post-mortem. According to medical reports Whitney had consumed cocaine, Benadryl, Xanax, marijuana and Flexeril.

Any Whitehouse: She was one of those who joined the infamous 27 Club -those who died at the age of 27. The five-time Grammy Award winner was battling drug and alcohol abuse. She died from alcohol poisoning - an overdose of vodka which pushed her to coma state.

Kurt Cobain: The husband of musician Courtney love and more importantly a singer and song writer himself, Cobain died of heroin addiction. He was battling depression too and sent to a rehabilitation facility for treatment. He was found dead at his home. Though his death was ruled as suicide, his wife called it a murder based on a private investigator's version.

Tony Scott: The Top Gun director shocked all after he jumped to death in California. He did leave a suicide note for his family and friends that was kept private. There were however rumours post his death that Tony had been diagnosed with terminal brain cancer because of which he committed suicide. His family has however, rubbished the reports.

L'Wren Scott: Fashion designer was found hanging by the door handle with a scarf around her neck. The reason for her death could not be ascertained as there was no suicide note. The former model was linked to singer Mick Jagger, The Rolling Stones singer.
