Priyadarshan, wife Lissy call it quits
Filmmaker Priyadarshan’s marriage has hit a rough patch and we hear that the director and Lissy, his wife of 24 years, have now filed for divorce. In a press release on Monday, Lissy said that they they’ve decided to separate. “It is with profound sadness that I am announcing that myself and Sri Priyadarshan have decided to get separated after 24 years of marriage. I have filed for divorce on Monday in the Chennai family court. Both our children and close friends are aware of this decision,” she said.
“As you can imagine it is a very difficult period in our lives and I request all of you to respect our privacy," she added.
Lissy is a former actress who first met the filmmaker in Thiruvananthapuram on the sets of his 1984 film, ‘Odaruthammava Alariyam’. Industry watchers say that it was love at first sight for the two. The actress went on to act in 22 films directed by Priyadarshan and married him in December 1990. After her marriage, Lissy gave up her acting career and changed her name to Lakshmi. The couple has two children – daughter Kalyani and son Siddharth.
