All India Drama & Playlet Fest at Guntur in May

The Paruchuri Raghubabu Memorial Trust will organise the All India Drama and Playlet Festival at Pallekona village in Guntur district from May 1, 2015 to mark its silver jubilee. A theatre will be built in the village to host the State level event. Stage artistes, troupes and Nataka Kala Parishads can participate in the drama and playlet festival.

Addressing the media on Sunday, Paruchuri Venkateswara Rao, managing trustee of the trust, said that the silver jubilee would be celebrated on a grand scale in both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

The event will be held for five days in Andhra Pradesh and for four days in Telangana. The last date for sending entries to participate in the drama and playlet festival is February 10. Scrutiny of the entries will be done from February 25. The entry fee for a drama is Rs 150 and for a playlet is Rs 200. About 25 eminent stage artistes will be felicitated in AP and Telangana as part of the silver jubilee celebrations. A committee will be constituted soon to select the stage artistes for felicitation.

“The trust has decided to present silver mementos weighing about 6 kg to the best performers in the festival, besides cash awards ranging from Rs 30,000 to Rs 50,000,'' he said.

Producer and director Tammareddy Bharadwaja, actors Srikanth, Nani, Tarun and Sivaji Raja were present.
