Telangana CM K Chandrasekhar Rao, who graced the music launch of ‘Basthi’, starring veteran actress Jayasudha’s son ‘Shreayan’, spoke in length about his government’s plans for the film industry. He expressed a desire to revive the industry.

“We really want to do something good for the Telugu cinema industry. But it’s a new state. Adjustments have to be made. Then we have to see where we are making profits and where money is going waste. We have to see how much to spend on new plans. We are discussing all that now,” said KCR.

He added that after looking into many other matters, he has finally switched attention to film industry. “When Filmnagar came up, it was situated at the outskirts of the city and today, city has grown way beyond it. With these changing factors, we will have dialogue with seniors like Dasari Narayana Rao, K Raghavendra Rao and Mohan Babu and see what can be done.

In fact, I even had a word with Chiranjeevi about it. Not just them; all other important people will be called. We will possibly discuss how we can facilitate the use of local studios in a more commercial way. I have addressed these issues earlier and we will discuss them again. If needed, we can build a new Filmnagar 2,” stated the CM.

He discussed about the participation of Telanganites in the film industry. “Though people of Telangana were not much into the film industry to begin with, with time, they have earned important roles in the industry,” shared KCR.

He added, “A place where all kind of artistes are respected will prosper. We have that kind of culture and values. We will make Hyderabad a hub for the people of the film industry. Allocations will be made for industry members. Institutes will be established to nurture talent. There are no boundaries for language and talent.”
