“Now he is recovering and is fine. However he continues to be in the ICU and doctors have advised that he should be in the intensive care for about a week,” Viswanathan’s son Gopi informed later in the evening. He said his father was being treated for geriatric disorders, but declined to elaborate.

A household name in Tamil Nadu, has scored music for hundreds of films, including Tamil and other languages and his association with iconic lyricist of yesteryear ‘Kaviyarasu’ Kannadasan is legendary in giving evergreen songs.

Popular for composing music in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam industries, MSV started his career as composer for 1952 film Tamil ‘Panam’ starring Sivaji Ganeshan, MSV is popular for his collaboration with fellow composer TK Ramamoorthy.

The duo composed music for 86 Tamil films during their association of over a decade. In Telugu, his compositions include ‘Tenali Ramakrishna’, ‘Anthuleni Kathaa’,’ Idhi Katha Kaadu’, ‘Aakali Rajyam’ and ‘Maro Charitra’. He is popularly known as 'king of light music'.
