Hyderabad: Film producers from Telangana State have declared an all-out war against their counterparts from Andhra Pradesh. Producers from Telangana State, led by exhibitor Murali Mohan Rao told a media conference here on Tuesday that they would not rest until the Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce was bifurcated and a separate Telangana State Film Chamber of Commerce was established.

“The TRS government in the State will be more comfortable with producers from Telangana. The government cannot make concessions to producers from Andhra Pradesh, ignoring the interests of sons of soil,” the producers felt. They said they were demanding bifurcation of the Chamber of Commerce for long but some vested interests were coming in the way.

The producers demanded that executive committee of the Chamber of Commerce meet immediately to discuss and take a decision on the issue of bifurcation of the body. The Chamber of Commerce was intended to play an advisory role only and had nothing to do with day-to-day affairs of filmmaking. The Chamber of Commerce would step in only in the event of a dispute, they said.

The producers from Telangana cannot bow their heads before their counterparts from Andhra Pradesh and the latter dictating terms and imposing penalties on the former are regards as adding insult to injury. Mohan Rao demanded that the leading Telugu film producer D Suresh Babu resign as president of the Chamber of Commerce. The members, who owe dues to the Chamber of Commerce, are ineligible to contest the election.

But the in the case of Suresh Babu, the rule was set aside though he owed Rs 16 lakh to the Chamber of Commerce. The leading producer did not even remit common good fund too to the Chamber of Commerce, he said. Mohan Rao said he filed a writ in the court. The court had also served notices on some of the office-bearers. He urged the government to constitute a committee to go into the irregularities that took place in the Chamber of Commerce.
