Actress Poonam Kaur says she is happy that she has finally got to work with mercurial filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma for ‘Attack’. “Ramu garu called me one day and asked me whether I can play a negative role.

He is the only one who can imagine people in different roles and when he told me what I was required to play, I was like, ‘Are you sure since I’ve played girl next-door-roles and a girl with an emotional baggage till now?’ But he was confident and when he briefed me about the part, I was kicked about it.

He later said it was a three-day role but I told him that I want to get a feel of being around him and see how he goes about directing me,” she recalls with a sense of pride, adding, “In fact I was supposed to do a film with him sometime back but it didn’t materialise. Around the same time I expressed my willingness to work with him irrespective of what role he’ll offer me.”

The actress shares that RGV has addressed her as grandma one day. Ask her why and she says, “He was like, ‘You should have been born in the 1940s for the way you think’.

Probably because I’m a firm believer in God, he might have called me as grandma,” she laughs, pointing out that she had a gala time collaborating with the director. “I enjoyed interacting with him. In fact, there was a point we had conversations running up to four to five hours. He is a complete entertainer.”
