Vimala Raman is on cloud nine. The reason? She was able to fulfil her long cherished wish - to play a mythological character. The Sydney-born actress will be seen in the role of goddess Lakshmi in the Telugu film 'Om Namo Venkatesa', directed K Raghavendra Rao (opposite Nagarjuna).

“I have always relished and love being a part of mythological and historical films. I earlier enacted in ‘Aparajitha’ in Kannada but Nag’s project is on a bigger scale. The traditional costumes, make-up, mouthing dialogues other detailing that goes into the character makes for a great experience.

I worked with Nagarjuna earlier in a commercial but working with him for a film is even more exciting,” says the actress who has already started shooting for her part. Although Vimala has worked under many experienced filmmakers, she feels working with K Raghavendra Rao was something else altogether.

“He’s a legend and it’s a dream come true to work with him and could not have asked for a better comeback in Telugu,” explains Vimala, who has just wrapped up shooting for a Malayalam film ‘Oppam’ opposite Mohanlal. - SA
