Kabali gets set for cross-border sweep
Tamil superstar Rajnikanth is on mission to expand his base beyond Indian shores with his upcoming action adventure “Kabali.” The film is all set to be dubbed in Chinese, Japanese, Thai and Malaya languages to reach out to his fans across the globe.
Film to be dubbed in several Asian languages

Hyderabad: Tamil superstar Rajnikanth is on mission to expand his base beyond Indian shores with his upcoming action adventure “Kabali.” The film is all set to be dubbed in Chinese, Japanese, Thai and Malaya languages to reach out to his fans across the globe. The tale of aged don is set to be released in Telangana State, Andhra Pradesh and also sold in other southern States, such as Karnataka and Kerala.
The Fox Star Studios has reportedly bought the Hindi rights and will be releasing it in more 1,000-and-odd theatres across India on July 22. Above all, realising the potential and fan following of ageless superstar Rajnikanth, producer S Dhanu is trying to reach out to the world audience and open up gates for south films.
“Undeniably, it is the first Indian movie to be dubbed in languages like Thai, Chinese, Japanese and Malaya and to be released in hundreds of theatres in those four countries as Rajnikanth has following beyond Indian shores for several years. In fact, the largest theatre in Paris with 2,800 seats sold out tickets in advance booking and only Rajni can achieve such a remarkable feat. It may take some more time for top Telugu and Tamil stars to attain such a height” said distributor Vallabaneni Ashok, who is confident of its magic spell on audience in two Telugu States.
Producer S Dhanu, after earning huge amount of money in southern States, like Karnataka, Kerala and two Telugu States, has sold the Hindi dubbing rights to Fox Star Studios for a whopping Rs 15 crore and they are planning to release the action adventure in more than 1,000-and-odd theatres across India on July 22. “Hindi rights have been sold for a fancy price to Fox Star Studios and they are planning to release in 1,000 theatres across India, It is highest ever for a south film in recent times.
It is because it is Rajni’s film all the way” said producer Prakash Reddy, who claimed that trade circles are eagerly waiting to see whether Kabali can overtake record-breaking Rs 300-crore hit Baahubali in the days to come. “Atlast ace director Rajamouli has a found right match in Rajnikanth” added Prakash Reddy.
