The 4th Brahmaputra Valley Film Festival 2016 will kick-off from Friday in Guwahati, where a number of Bollywood film personalities will interact with local filmmakers. The three-day festival, sponsored by the Union home ministry, Union information & broadcasting ministry, DoNER ministry and North Eastern Council, will showcase a number of regional movies, where the audience will get the opportunity to interact with the film personalities on various topics related to the craft of film-making, said TattvaCommunications.

“A short film festival has also been organised among the new age filmmakers from all the eight States of the region and also for films based on northeast India. Over hundred short films are being received from all across the region and out of all the entries, the top 15 will be screened at the film festival and the top three winners will be honoured with cash prizes,” said Tanushree Hazarika of Tattva Communications.

The festival will be graced by popular Bollywood film personalities like Prakash Jha (of Gangaajal, Rajneeti, Aarakshan and Satyagraha fame), Imtiaz Ali (of Jab We Met, Rockstar and Highway fame) along with production designer Vandana Kataria (of Shanghai and Byomkesh Bakshy fame), sound designer Amrit Pritam (of Black, Ghajini and Slumdog Millionaire fame), screenwriter Ritesh Shah (of Kahaani and Airlift fame) etc.

Addressing the media, North Eastern Council information director Ranjan Mahapatra commented that the festival would be a great opportunity for the budding filmmakers from the region as they would get the opportunity to meet a number of renowned film directors.

Many acclaimed movies from the region like Kima’s Lode Beyond the Class (Mizo film directed by Zualaa Chhangte), The Head Hunter (Arunachali film directed by Nilanjan Datta), Eibusu Yaohanbiyu (Manipuri film directed by Maipaksana Haorongbam), Oh My Soul! (Nagamese film directed by Kivini Shohe), Rong’ Kuchak (Garo film directed by Dominik Sangma), 1962 My Country Land (Arunachali film directed by Partha Borgohain), Tezpur 1962 (Assamese film directed by directed by Samujjal Kashyap), Dooronir Nirola Poja (Assamese film directed by Dhruva J Bordoloi), Out of the Blue (Assamese film directed by Tarunabh Dutta), Myna and Asterix (Assamese film directed by Kenny Basumatary) etc will be screened in the festival.
