Regina Cassandra is probably enjoying the best phase of her career and it reflects on her face. With a diary full of Telugu and Tamil films, she has a lot to look forward to. But today, she’s creating a great deal of buzz for signing her first Hindi film ‘Aankhen 2.’ The film stars Amitabh Bachchan, Anil Kapoor, Arjun Rampal and Arshad Warsi among other noted Bollywood faces.

The Chennai-beauty happened to meet Amitabh Bachchan for the first time at the press meet intended to introduce the cast to the media in Mumbai recently. Recalling the moment, she says, “Mr Bachchan was introduced first to the media, followed by Arshad Warsi and then me. And as soon as I went up on the stage, he immediately turned to me and said, ‘We never had the opportunity to meet before, hai’. He shook my hands later and I told him that it was a pleasure to meet him.”

But her interaction with him didn’t end there. The actress, who suffered a minor wardrobe malfunction while performing on stage, recalled that the Big B too had a problem while performing his act. “He shared that LED lights failed to work during his performance and asked whether I had faced a similar issue. I replied, ’You had LED malfunction sir, but I had some other malfunction.’ And he couldn’t but help laugh at it.”

The actress was also bowled over by Big B’s chivalry. “It was my maiden Bollywood presser and he ensured that I comfortable throughout. In fact, when a journalist asked me how I felt when I was told that I would be doing a film with Mr Bachchan, he chimed in and said, ‘Kya bakwaas sawaal hai?’” Over here, Regina is awaiting the release of Srinivas Avasarala’s ‘Jo Achyutananda’ in which she is cast opposite Nara Rohith and Naga Shourya. The romantic comedy sees the actress playing the love interest of the both the heroes who are siblings.

She insists it was the story that sealed the deal for her. “Srini (Avasarala) has a witty sense of humour and it is the apt time to tap into such humour in Tollywood. When he narrated me the script, I was laughing like there was no tomorrow! It is tough to make me laugh while narrating a script but over here it was a different case. In fact, even when I was going through the scenes on sets, it was hilarious,” she informs, adding that while her part has an idea of what’s happening the guys, at times, don’t. “Every girl, I feel, would be able to relate to some emotion of the film.

I was able to relate to so many emotions of Jyotsna personally.” She further adds that Jyotsna is one of the funniest characters she has ever played on screen. “She is a dentist and has her flaws. You’d sympathise, get angry, get annoyed and rejoice with her. She errs like everyone and is ready to correct them too.”

Regina points out that although she was convinced that she would do the film, she had to take some time to say yes because she was busy with a Tamil film in Chennai. “This is when I met Rohith in Hyderabad. He explained to me in detail why I should do the film! It was a great thing to hear that from him. No co-actor has ever done that to me and I thank him for that,” she confides.

Krishna Vamsi’s ‘Nakshatram’ would follow ‘Jo Achyutananda’ for the actress in the theatres. “I play a background dancer who also plays heroines friends in films. It’s a very eccentric part,” she smiles, revealing that Krishna Vamsi is not a tough taskmaster as he his presumed to be. “He is not a tough taskmaster. He knows what he wants and when you give it, he is happy. Also, I belong to the types who can be moulded easily.”
