The muhurat of Allu Arjun-starrer ‘DJ- Duvvada Jagannadham’ with Harish Shankar in the director’s chair was held in Hyderabad on Monday. The actor’s father Allu Aravind sounded the clapboard for the first shot while producer Shyam Prasad Reddy switched on the camera. VV Vinayak directed the first shot.

‘DJ’ is Harish Shankar’s third film on the trot with ace producer Dil Raju. Speaking to Talkies, the director, who has been planning to work with Allu Arjun since ‘Arya,’ said ‘DJ’ would be a completely different film for him and the actor. “It is a characterisation-based commercial entertainer with humour aplenty. At the same time, it is something very new for me and Bunny.”

The director added that the film will go on floors mostly in September-end or mid-October. “Major part of the shoot will take place in Hyderabad. We are planning to go to Hong Kong for 10 days.” He said that since his writer friend Satish Vegesna has got busy with his maiden directorial ‘Shatamanam Bhavathi’, he got Deepak Raj, who worked with him for ‘Mirapakay,’ on board to work on the screenplay. “And of course, Ramesh Reddy is regular for my films.”

Also on board is Bollywood cinematographer Ayanaka Bose, who shot films like ‘Umrao Jaan,’ ‘Kites,’ ‘Kick’ and ‘Dishoom’. Harish further revealed that casting for other roles is still underway but promised that the film will hit the screens in the summer of 2017. Devi Sri Prasad is rendering tunes.
