Director Parasuram, who is basking in the success of ‘Srirasthu Subhamastu,’ has been approached to helm the Telugu remake of Marathi box-office smash ‘Sairat.’ Confirming the development, Parasuram told us, “Yes, a proposal to direct the Telugu version has come my way but it was not through producer Rockline Venkatesh but through a second party.”

Kannada top shot Venkatesh has acquired the remake rights of ‘Sairat,’ which narrated a love story doomed by religious fundamentalism, to remake in all four South languages. He has already roped in S Narayan to helm the Kannada version.

When asked whether he is taking up the Telugu offer, Parasuram, known for his dialogues, stated, “I’m committed to make a film with Geetha Arts up next. It’s a love story and I finished writing it. On ‘Sairat’ remake, let’s see.”

Since Venkatesh is good friends with Geetha Arts chief Allu Aravind, can’t the latter give the required consent to Parusuram to go ahead with ‘Sairat’ remake? The director replied, “I don’t think the news has reached Aravind yet.”
