Mrs India 2017 Finalist Mamta Trivedi released a short film, “Lets open up on Depression” at a preview theatre in Hyderabad on Tuesday.

The short film is an effort to spread awareness about the condition by capturing a study on depression among the youth.

Trivedi shared her experiences in dealing with persons from varying backgrounds who are suffering from depression.

Dr Aban Daver provided a clinical perspective of the condition in terms of treatment and cure, based on her experience in the field.

“There have been more than five crore reported cases of depression in the country. However, one in 10 persons is showing signs of depression.

About 65 per cent of young adults in the age group of 22 to 25 show early signs of depression. Yet, not many people seem to be aware of this disease. Most of the times, the patient is unaware that he or she is suffering from depression.

The reaction of people to symptoms exhibited varies from imagining that the person has been possessed by a spirit to branding that person as mad,” said the beauty queen.
