Originally released during Pongal, Vishwasam, the ‘Ultimate Star’ Ajith Kumar starrer successfully competed against none other than ‘Petta’ in Tamil Nadu. While the Superstar film won on its own steam in the original version, its Telugu dubbing did not do too well, owing to its ill-timed release and ending up competing with the local heroes like Balakrishna, Ram Charan, Venkatesh etc with their Sankranti flicks.

After a reported collection of Rs 130 crore world over, the film made its entry into the Telugu market this Friday. Directed by Siva and with the female lead being Nayantara, enjoying a glorious run (in both the film industries with both original and dubbed ventures), the first half of the film is reserved for establishing the hero and why he is shown in the state that he finds himself in – a rural do-gooder with a shattered family life.

Despite the machismo, by and large, the antics of the star appear exhausted and his frame, a true reflection of the middle-aged condition he is at present. With the action block heralding in the intermission, the movie gets into high speed mode in the second half, when the father goes in search of his wife and daughter to distant Mumbai where Nayantara is shown as a successful business tycoon. The typical scope built in for interpolating melodrama into the film follows, which is its sustaining element.

A comedy track by the veteran actor Vivek and Kovai Sarala adds a few laughs here and there as the hero makes all out efforts to woo the girl back into his life and take them back to his native place. Of course, it all happens in the end, but not before the emotional pressures and action elements are packed in proportionately to give the fans all that they want from a standard Ajith starrer.
