Actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui, who is gearing up for the release of his forthcoming film ‘Photograph’, has said that he is doesn’t think he has any special skills when it comes to clicking photographs.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui was interacting with the media at ‘Tum Ne Mujhe Dekha’ song launch from his film ‘Photograph’ along with his co-actor Sanya Malhotra and director Ritesh Batra on Friday in Mumbai.

‘Photograph’ revolves around a street photographer Rafi (Siddiqui), who tries to convince Miloni (Malhotra) to pose as his fiancee so that his grandmother stops pressurising him to get married.

When asked Nawazuddin whether he is a good photographer in real life, he said, “I am not a good photographer in real life. I feel I am a good photographer but when I show photographs clicked by me to others then, they tell me ‘what is so special in the photograph? Anyone can click these kind of photographs’ so, I don’ think I have any special skill when it comes to clicking photographs.”

Nawazudddin Siddiqui is second time collaborating with filmmaker Ritesh Bhatra in ‘Photograph; after their critically acclaimed film ‘The Lunchbox’, sharing his experience working with Ritesh Batra in ‘Photograph’, Nawazuddin said, “When I earlier worked with Ritesh in ‘The Lunchbox’, that time he gave me a lot of liberty so, I thought we will work together in same manner in ‘Photograph’ as well but it was really different process of Ritesh while working on this film. Ritesh used to deal with every actor differently and I had a kind of new experience working with Ritesh in this film.”

When asked Nawazuddin whether he created any portfolio of his photographs during his initial struggle in Hindi film industry, Nawazuddin shared a funny incident from his struggling days, he said, “During the period of early 2000, many actors came to Mumbai for work that time, we used to click our pictures in a shop called Sandeepan in Juhu and all actors used to wear same jacket and click their pictures and those pictures used to travel in casting agencies.”

He added, “Once, owner of the shop did soft lighting while clicking my picture so, in that picture I was looking bit fair and I gave that picture of mine in Mahesh Bhatt’s office and then, called they me for an audition of a music video and I also felt surprised how they have selected me for this so, went there in his office a lady over were calling my name in front me so, when I told her I am the one who you are looking for then she told me that she didn’t recognised me as I was looking fair in that photograph so, that’s how I saw another rejection from Bhatt sahab’s office as well.”

When asked Nawazuddin which Hindi film actress photograph he would like to click apart from his co-star Sanya Malhotra, he said, “I will click picture of Kareena Kapoor Khan because she is really beautiful. I feel she is also good when it comes to posing and giving stance to photographers.”

‘Photograph’ is a coming-of-age romantic comedy-drama film written, co-produced and directed by Ritesh Batra.

It stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Sanya Malhotra in the lead roles.

‘Photograph’ is scheduled to release 15 March 2019.
