Septuagenarian mother of five differently abled children toils to feed family
The septuagenarian mother toils hard working as a servant-maid in many houses to maintain her family of six, which includes five differently-abled children, all in the age group of 30-35 years. At this advanced age, she has no option but to work because of the condition of her children.

One of her children had always to be chained to the cot since he was aggressive and had the tendency to be violent even against his mother. Of the five children, two are by birth visually-challenged. The other three, which include two girls, are mentally challenged. The family is so poor that it cannot afford two square meals a day, let alone getting the children treated.
This is the pathetic condition of the family of Rajanarsu and Lachchavva, hailing from Venkatraopet, a major panchayat, in Luxettipet mandal. Rajanarsu passed away two years ago.
The eldest two of the five–Lachchanna and Rajanna–are visually-impaired right from their birth. The third one–Sekhar–is both visually and mentally challenged. The two girls in the family - Rajavva and Chandrakala- also developed mental problems agonized by their poor marriage prospects. Because of the poverty, the family could not afford to get them married. Only the eldest of the five, Lachchanna gets Rs 1500 a month as pension.
The family gets 35 kg of subsidised rice a month from fair-price shop. The rice lasts for only six days in a month. All through the month, the family has to virtually starve. Only saving grace in the otherwise gloomy situation is Lachchaavva working as a servant-maid and fetching some food to feed the children so that they would not starve to death.
According to Lachchavva and other family members, the moment Sekhar is unchained he would get aggressive and target his own mother. They belong to Gangaputra caste. The caste leaders often help the family in one way or other. However, the political leaders of the village took no pity on the family. The people of the village earnestly appeal to the philanthropic public and officials for liberal help the family.
