Police arrests serial killer

Rajampet (Kadapa): Rajampet police has nabbed an alleged ‘serial killer,’ Venkata Ramana (28), on Thursday, who posed a huge challenge to them for four years.

Rajampet DSP Ananya said Ramana was a native of G V Puram of Obulavaripalle mandal in Kadapa district. After witnessing the alleged killing of father and ‘humiliation’ of mother, who was tied to a tree before villagers following a land dispute, he became insane with rage. Since then, he had been resorting to killings of those who humiliated his mother, one after the other.

Despite the police pickets in the village, he shot dead one Thota Subrahmanyam in fields and hacked another person to death. A team of police personnel led by CI Venkateswarlu arrested the accused. Ramana gave a slip to the police many times. Superintendent of Police Ashok Kumar had recently announced a reward for those providing information on the whereabouts of the ‘serial killer.’
