Venkatapuram: On the same day of her wedding anniversary, a woman allegedly committed suicide. Not bowing to the heavy pressure of torture from her spouse, the woman has committed suicide by consuming pesticide on Monday.

This incident took place at Veluturlapalli village of Venkatapuram mandal on Monday. According to the kith and kin of the victim, Tatiparti Praveen Rao of Velurturlapalli village and Velishala Swapna of Godavarikhani have been married for 9yrs. They have been blessed with two sons also.

After three years of their marriage, Praveen Rao started bothering Swapna for supplementary dowry, repeatedly. There was no change found in him despite the fact that the village heads have convinced Praveen, several times. Swapna has even made a complaint against Praveen Rao in the police station. The Godavarikhani police have counseled the duo and sent them back. But, there was no end to his torture on her. Vexed with his activities, Swapna started staying with her parents in Godavarikhani. Later, the village heads convinced the couple and sent her back to their home at Velurturlapalli village. There were clashes going on between the couple, incessantly.

On Sunday, Swapna and Praveen Rao and their family members went for Medaram Jatara. Monday happened to be their wedding anniversary. Instead of celebrating the occasion, early on Monday, Swapna consumed the pesticide to commit suicide. The kith and kin of the victim suspect that something might went wrong between the couple there at Medaram which ultimately dragged her to take the extreme step. On the way to the hospital, Swapna died. Her father demanded an immediate probe behind her death and filed a complaint with the police.
