Nalgonda: Durga Reddy, a head constable at Tripuraram police station, who was on election duty, attempted rape on a woman late on Sunday night. This incident took place at Duggepalli of Tripuraram mandal in Nalgonda district. The accused was on patrolling duty at Duggepalli in view of the ZPTC/MPTC elections.

He has been presently posted at Tripuraram police station. Along with him, the accused took Saidulu, an auto driver, for the patrolling duty. After completing the duty, in the night on Sunday, the duo had their lunch at Saidulu’s home and was taking rest. In the midnight, Durga Reddy, the head constable, attempted rape on the wife of Saidulu. As she yelled, he fled away from their home. Later, she made a complaint at the police station of the very matter, accompanied by her husband and local leaders. Durga Reddy has been detained by the police and they have been investigating the matter.
