Dowry Torture Forces Woman to End Life. A 25-year-old housewife allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling fan at her residence in Judges Colony of Mansoorabad late on Sunday night.
Hyderabad: A 25-year-old housewife allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling fan at her residence in Judges Colony of Mansoorabad late on Sunday night.
According to Vanasthalipuram police, the deceased was identified as P Anitha. She was reportedly being harassed by her husband Venkatesh Naik for additional dowry.
Unable to bear the torture, she resorted to the extreme step, the police said. The couple got married three years ago and they had a 10-month-old daughter.
The victims’ parents complained to the police that Venkatesh and his parents tortured their daughter for additional dowry.
The police registered a case against Venkatesh, and his family members under Sections 498-A (subjecting a married woman to cruelty for dowry) and 306 (abetment to commit suicide) of the Indian Penal Code.Further investigation is on.
