Hyderabad: In a daring daylight robbery, an attention diversion gang targeted a 45-year-old man and fled with a bag containing Rs 8 lakh at the IDBI Bank in KPHB Colony on Tuesday.
Vishnuvardhan Reddy, a local businessman, residing at Balaji Nagar in Kukatpally area, went to the bank and withdrew cash. He kept the cash in a bag and placed on the rear seat of his car. The miscreants, who were apparently watching transactions made by the businessman, diverted his attention and fled with the cash, police said.
According to KPHB police, Vishnu was about to get into the car when a passer-by asked him to check if the currency notes lying near the car belonged to him. He got down to gather the 10 rupees notes strewn across the ground. He was shocked to find his cash bag missing when he returned to the car.
These miscreants could have followed him and targeted him, the police said. It is suspected to be work of habitual offenders, said KPHB inspector V Sreekanth Goud. The police are examining the CCTV footages for clues.
