Karimnagar: A Singareni Collieries worker employed in RK 5B Mine in Srirampur division of Adilabad district, Lingaiah, died on Tuesday morning under suspicious circumstances. He collapsed suddenly at his work spot. Fellow workers who noticed his condition informed their higher-ups.
When officials removed the body out of the mine, workers and trade union leaders got into arguments with them. They alleged that Ligaiah might have died due to lack of proper ventilation at the work spot. A doctor who was summoned declared him dead.
After workers expressed distress that Srirampur division CGM Venkateshwar Rao did not bother to visit the spot following Lingaiah’s death. He came only to see the body, they said. Officials said the service benefits due to the worker would be handed over to his family.
