Hyderabad: A gang of robbers broke into a house at Eshwarpuri Colony near Sainikpuri under Kushaiguda police limits and decamped with gold and silver ornaments and cash of Rs 20,000, police said on Sunday.

According to police, the burglars cut the iron bars of one of the windows of the ground floor of the building at Plot No 134 D and got entry and ransacked the house. The members of the house had gone to attend a religious function when the incident happened. They had been out of station since September 28. When they returned home on Sunday, they found that their house ransacked and gold and silver ornaments missing from the almirah, cops confirmed. Based on a complaint by the house owner, Balakrishna, 38, an employee of Shanta Biotech, police registered a case under Section 457/380 (Burglary) of the IPC and started investigation.

Police suspect that the gang had conducted a recce before committing the theft and chalked out a plan. Dog squad and fingerprint experts were pressed into service to gather information. Police exuded confidence of nabbing the culprits who are still at large.
