SHE teams nab 27 offenders
Based on the feedback and suggestions received from field teams and inputs given by public through Facebook page, the Cyberabad SHE Teams launched a special drive in the newly-identified hotspots and apprehended 27 offenders while they were found to be harassing women in public through various means.
Hyderabad: Based on the feedback and suggestions received from field teams and inputs given by public through Facebook page, the Cyberabad SHE Teams launched a special drive in the newly-identified hotspots and apprehended 27 offenders while they were found to be harassing women in public through various means.
The teams were revamped last week by Malkajgiri DCP Rama Rajeshwari, IPS and trained in reaching out to women being harassed by miscreants at public places. Dial 100 service has been integrated with SHE Teams and all the distress calls from women, particularly those relating to eve-teasing and stalking, were redirected by Cyberabad Control room to the concerned area team apart from giving information to the local police station.
“This enables the local police to reach out to the women in a more sensitive manner as the teams have women constables, who help the victim to speak up without fear and to report the crime. Efforts are underway to increase the number of personnel in SHE Teams and to bring down the response time,” an official said.
