Hyderabad: Continuing its crackdown against anti-social elements, the Cyberabad Police launched a ‘cordon and search’ operation at different places in Saroornagar police station under L B Nagar zone and took 20 offenders into custody in the early hours of Thursday. A team headed by DCP (LB Nagar), Tafseer Iqbal, comprising of 300 police personnel including ACPs, inspectors, SIs, and constables participated in the operation and detained as many as 20 offenders, including a few wanted in a theft case for questioning.

The team raided places at Bhagat Singh Nagar and Bangladesh Colony under LB Nagar zone and confiscated 50 motorbikes and 10 auto-rickshaws. “It is learnt that a lot of criminals from other States are taking shelter in Cyberabad limits. Bhagat Singh Nagar has become a haven for criminals like bike lifters, house burglars and chain-snatchers,” said the DCP, adding that Cyberabad police would continue these types of operations in Cyberabad limits and come tough on offenders.

PD Act slapped on five

The Hyderabad Police on Thursday slapped the Preventive Detention (PD) Act on five offenders, City Commissioner of Police, M Mahender Reddy, said. The detention orders have been served on Manglarupu Arjun Yadav, 26 and G Pavan Kumar, 23, both of Yousufguda, Rotimi Olusola Kehinde alias Sola, 30, a native of Nigeria, Md Farhan, 22, of Seetarambagh and S Nageswar Reddy of Banjara Hills who are allegedly involved in gruesome offences like attempt to murder, extortion, criminal intimidation, bodily offences reported under different police stations limits in the city were detained and sent to prison.
