Mir Alam youth gets 10 year RI for rape
A Sessions Court here on Wednesday sentenced a youth to 10 years rigorous imprisonment (RI) for raping a 14-year-old girl. This is the first case of conviction under the Nirbhaya Act in the City. According to prosecution, Md Salman, 20, of Mir Alam Mandi, raped the 14-year-old girl on different occasions starting from December 14, 2013 after forcibly taking her to secluded places in Pahadishareef and Fateh Darwaza areas.
First case of conviction under Nirbhaya Act in City
Hyderabad: A Sessions Court here on Wednesday sentenced a youth to 10 years rigorous imprisonment (RI) for raping a 14-year-old girl. This is the first case of conviction under the Nirbhaya Act in the City. According to prosecution, Md Salman, 20, of Mir Alam Mandi, raped the 14-year-old girl on different occasions starting from December 14, 2013 after forcibly taking her to secluded places in Pahadishareef and Fateh Darwaza areas.
Based on a complaint by victim’s mother on December 15, 2013, the Bhavaninagar police registered a case under Section 366 and 376 of the IPC and Criminal Amendment Act – 2013 and Section 6 of Protection of Children against Sexual Offences Act and took up investigation.
The police produced 21 witnesses along with the collected material/ medical evidences from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) and from the scene of offence. Police has also conducted Test Identification Parade (TIP) and got recorded the 161 CrPC statement of the victim in the court.
