7 tonnes of PDS rice, wheat seized
Vigilance officials of the Civil Supplies Department on Tuesday seized seven tonnes of PDS rice and wheat from a house at Dharugalli and handed them over to the mandal-level stock point. According to District Supplies Officer (DSO) M Kondal Rao, unidentified persons stocked two tonnes of PDS wheat and five tonnes of PDS rice in a house at Dharugalli.
Nizamabad: Vigilance officials of the Civil Supplies Department on Tuesday seized seven tonnes of PDS rice and wheat from a house at Dharugalli and handed them over to the mandal-level stock point. According to District Supplies Officer (DSO) M Kondal Rao, unidentified persons stocked two tonnes of PDS wheat and five tonnes of PDS rice in a house at Dharugalli. Acting on a tip-off, the officials raided the house and seized the commodities.
He suspected that unknown persons might have bought the rice and wheat from the public or Fair Price Shops and kept them in the house. The Vigilance officials registered a case under Section 6A and took up inquiry. This was the second such case in the district in the last two days. In the previous incident, officials seized nearly 50 tonnes of PDS rice from a rice mill and a house.
