Hyderabad: Relatives of a patient protested against the management of Kamineni Hospital, L B Nagar, after the medical staff allegedly declared a woman ‘brain dead’, who was under-going surgery. Amrutha Reddy, 22, resident of Turkayamjal, Hayathnagar who was admitted to the Kamineni Hospital with complications due to earlier caesarean done on her at a private hospital recently.

She was admitted on May 19 at Kamineni, but while she was under-going treatment, the staff allegedly declared her ‘brain dead’ on Sunday. Upon learning that her daughter was no more, her mother insisted to check her daughter again. But to her surprise, Amrutha Reddy was moving her legs.

Soon the patient’s mother and her relatives staged protest against the management for declaring her “dead”. However, the hospital staff, which did not give a written declaration, took up the matter and began treatment. She continues to be in a critical condition.
